Liz Sanders brings a varied professional background to In the Zone. She has spent 15 years in the collegiate coaching industry  as an assitant coach at Georgetown University, Ball State University and Indiana University. With a coaching philosophy rooted in relationship building, she will help to create a trusting, judgement free environment for your athletes to grow. In addition to her field hockey coaching experience, she has also enjoyed a long playing career. She participated in USA Field Hockey's High Perfomance program for 6 years, is a 2 time Harrow Cup Team Captain, and director of the adult field hockey club Head to Toe.

Coach Sanders will also be responsible for continued business development for In the Zone. Her professional background includes 5 years experience as a Project Manager, and a current role as Regional Development Manager for USA Field Hockey's Futures Program.  Through these professional endeavors Coach Sanders has a training background in Strategic Planning, Event Planning and Management.


Amy Robertson has spent the past 25+ years in collegiate coaching. She is the former Head Coach of Indiana University where she helped transform the Hoosiers from a Club Program in 2000, to an Elite Eight NCAA finish in 2005. Along the way she guided the Hoosiers to 2 NCAA Tournament appearances and coached 5 All-Americans. Personally she also garnered numerous accolades, Big Ten Coach of the Year 2003 and West Region Coach of the Year 2005.  She holds a Level III Coaching Certification from USA Field Hockey, where she has served in various roles for athlete development. Prior to Indiana, she was an assistant coach at Wake Forest, The University of Massachusetts, and The University of Iowa.

Coach Robertson has spent her career dedicated to a holistic coaching philosophy. One of the greatest achievements of her career came when Mutsa Mutembwa, former Indiana University Field Hockey athlete was named a Rhodes Scholar Select in 2009. Under her direction her teams have been active in community service activities and leadership training. She has built upon her own values by working directly with key figures in the leadership and life skills industry. This collaboration includes experts Jeff Janssen, Tim Elmore,  Rob Kehoe, Gunnar Nilsson and the IU Army ROTC. She plans to take this same approach to the participants of In the Zone. With an energetic, hands on approach to coaching and passion for youth development  she will help your teams to create a better connection to each other. A process resulting in team synergy and leading your athletes to more success both on and off of the field.

Director of Coaching and Curriculum Amy Robertson has enjoyed a highly successful career as a coach and leader. Through her 25+ years of coaching she has perfected the art of keeping athletes engaged in their own development. This principle is key to the philosophy of In the Zone. We are committed to introducing your teams to the benefits of leadership development and team chemistry.

  ​​​​Tactical and Technical Field Hockey

  • We will create a balanced curriculum, rich in fundamental skills; small games and decision making. Our staff is committed to identifying the needs of your group and increasing their field hockey IQ. 

Team Building

  • Along with field hockey specific training we will introduce your group to unique team building activities. Our goal is to create a stronger team synergy; and provide you with a platform to further this process.

Leadership/Communication Skills

  •  NO team can operate without these 2 key components. We will spend time exposing your group to activities that bring these ideas to the surface; and motivate them to maintain a commitment to both skills.
